Brampton Manor workshop (year 2)
Welcome to our page!
I hope you enjoy visiting this page. We have had lots of fun over the past two days. It has given us a chance to have more freedom with our artwork. We've also worked with different people from within our year group. It really has been an interesting experience.
We have drawn our inspiration from the River Tiete. We have used images from the internet and an artist called Oliver Jeffers. Having something to go on is a great help but once we started we couldn't stop. We've all had a lot of fun!
We looked closely at an artist called Oliver Jeffers. Jeffers was born in Port Hedland, Western Australia and grew up in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Jeffers has travelled all over the globe and has exhibited his work in cities such as New York, Sydney, London and Belfast.
Oliver Jeffers style of art is very playful and child like. It is also simplistic and appeals to all ages. He has created his own storybooks. He has a style of writing which is friendly, comical and unusual. We have included some of his style of writing and illustration into our work.
Our theme was 'Working River'. We looked at information about the river first and we found out information about the coffee trade. To show this we created coffee stains and then incorporated them into our final piece. They have been placed in the background to add colour to the work we produced on paper. The coffee stains also represent the link between Brazil and the U.K. The coffee which is produced in Brazil is transported and then used by the people in other countries as well as the U.K.
This is the area to document your art workshops when the artists come and visit your school – have fun and be creative!
- Why don’t you add a list of the participating pupils?
You could take and embed a group photo as a way of introducing the pupils involved in the project
You can start a gallery and show images of the workshop process
You could create a collage effect and show the final work of all the pupils
The pupils could each write a ‘blog’ about the their workshop process and what they have learnt and enjoyed
Film and record the workshops and add podcasts and video clips to your page
