St Marylebone C of E School
Founded in 1791, St Marylebone School is a successful, multi-faith comprehensive school for girls aged from eleven to eighteen. Set in an oasis of calm just two minutes walk from the turmoil of Marylebone Road, the school provides an exhilarating and inspiring learning environment which provides an opportunity for all pupils to achieve. The School offers a haven of peace and tranquillity where traditional principles underpin a modern forward thinking outlook which gives girls the confidence and skills to know that women can succeed in whatever they choose to do. Our standards and expectations are high and we pride ourselves in giving every student the opportunity to excel, to fulfil her potential and become highly qualified, equipped fully for the demands and exciting challenges of life.

Your river and London life
Art workshop
Our theme for the Thames Festival project is ‘The River of Life’
For the project I drew a huge fossil with fern leaves in the background. I drew in pencil onto an A4 piece of grided paper and then used a fine pen in the background to add some colour to make it stand out.
We were chosen for this project because we are gifted and talented in art. Our theme for the project was River of life. We researched fossils and then started trying to draw some on to graph paper. We then chose our final design, mine was a shell and in the background we drew ferns. We added colour to the background and then scanned them in to the computer.
We have been working on the starting point "The River of life". We used images of fossils, ferns and shells to inspire our final pieces of work.We each did a pencil drawing of a chosen source e.g. a fossil, and drow this onto a piece of thin graph paper. After everyone had completed their drawing we experimented with different coloured gel pens.We scaned this into "Photoshop" (a computer program designed to edit photographs and other images.) Then we used effects such as "Embos" to make the pictures look older and more like ancient fossils. Our next task was to format the pictures together to create one mass picture (1m x 2 m).
