BLOGS

We began our first day with an introduction to the Thames festival and what we would be doing. Next, we got to work. We firstly transcribed images of fireworks onto paper using pencil. They gave us 5 minutes on each drawing, so it was mainly rough sketches and ideas. We then looked over our ideas and used drew with chalk onto black sugar paper. It was fun to crush, blend and create different patterns with the chalks.
Later on, we watched Pete uploading our images onto photoshop and he played around with all the tools to show us how we can adapt and collaborate our artworks. It was very interesting to find out about the rivers of the world project aswell. Our school is linked to a school in kolkata so it will be good to see what they think about our creations!

Day 2

Today we have cut out three circles, then went to the other room and we have done some spin painting. Spin painting is when you place your card on the top of the turntable (an electric drill) and have another person to operate the drill by using the broom to turn it on.Then when it's on you splash paint on top of the card and it will give a firework affect.

IT'S REALLY FUN

Day 1

Today we were told that we were going to be involved in the Thames Festival project and we had to make a board with our pictures on it.We started off by drawing fireworks because our theme was river culture, we spent 5 minutes on each drawing. Then we used black paper and crushed chalk to sprinkle and press onto the paper to make a picture.

Day 2

Today we were given 3 peices of paper, a small plate, scissors and lots of different coloured paints. We started off by cutting out 3 circles out of the paper using the small plate as a template. Then we used the drill to spin the paper circles and splashed paint on them,
the method i used was as follows:
First i used light blue paint using a splashing method, from a far away distance. Then i used red paint using a dropping method from the same distance. Finally i used yellow using a splashing and dropping method from a close distance.

Another masterpiece nears completion
Day 1

First of all, we were introduced to previous projects from the year before and we looked at the different themes. We then began to look at our theme ' river culture', and began experimenting with different techniques and mediums towards our board. I enjoyed copying the pictures of the fireworks most because you could interpret the pictures how you wanted to. Some people's work was scanned onto the computer and we were shown how you can alter the picture with photoshop.

Day 2

Today we continued with the project and we began cutting out circles from card for our spin paintings. We watched a demonstration of how to use the paints and then we began. We added water to the paints to change their consistency and tried different techniques using the paintbrushes. Then we were given the choice to either do a firework picture with glitterpaints or a picture of buildings by the river Thames.
