Bishop Douglass School art workshop
Bishop Douglass students with MIss Faik ,Helen and Pia.
Hello this is Elle Crowder and Casey Aston. Over the past 2 days our school have had artists in (Pia and Helen). When we went on a trip to the Thames River we took picture of the buildings and using them on a piece of paper we drew out the important parts of our chosen picture. We then coloured it in using thick white cardboard squares and we put a piece of paper on top and put it through a press, making an embossed picture, making it look like the building is made out of sugar cubes. We then made up coloured icing sugar and using white sugar cubes we built sugar walls. We then got a selection of sweets and drew them and coloured them in with ink or colouring pencils. We have really enjoyed the experience of trying new things and working with real artists. We are really looking forward to the upcoming events.
What i enjoyed during the rivers of the world project?
I enjoyed taking part in the workshops, for example, creating postcards for the school in Bangladesh, going on the River Thames trip with the class and taking pictures of the Thames, going on the river cruises, London Eye and The 4D experience, and drawing quick sketches. I also enjoyed the workshops where the 2 artists came and we done some embossing pictures of buildings along the river thames. We also made sugar cube walls with sugar cubes and icing sugar. We got to choose the colour icing sugar we wanted because after we built the walls it gave a very nice affect from far away. We then drew sweets and used ink to add affects and textures. After everything we saw our final design of our whole project and was very happy with the work we’ve produced.
Hello my name is Samuel Davies and my school was part of the Rivers of the World project. Our partner school was in Bangladesh. We went to visit the River Thames and we even went on the London eye and also on a boat. We drew the river Thames. We had the chance to work with artists that came to our school and we made embossed pieces of work based on the River Thames. We also made sugar cube stacks. We also drew sweets and it was really fun! J
Hello! Our names are Xuebin Wu and Jonathan Rodrigues. We really liked the lesson because it was fun and we had a lot of things to do like the emboss designs. But first we went on a trip to the London eye. We took pictures there to bring back to school from the river Thames. We then did the emboss pictures. After that, we glued sugar lumps with sugar icing and shaped them into the river. The next day we drew a few sweets to use on our poster which the rivers of the world team made and finalised. We hope to see and do other stuff in the future. Bye for now J
Hi! my name is Bethany Sibley over the past few months I have been doing a project called rivers of the world, it has been really enjoyable because we went on a London trip to go on the London eye, boat ride and even went to see a 4D experience film. All of this was so fun and I can’t wait for the upcoming workshops. Pia and Helen (2 artists) came to my school to help us with the poster for the Oxo Tower. We made Pictures of places near the Thames, and then put tiny square pieces of card on them, we then put it with paper on top through a machine that squishes, and this is called embossing!! After that we mad walls out of sugar cubes ad icing sugar and put colouring in icing sugar. This is what me and my group have done and I am really looking forward to the upcoming events...
Hello our names are, Anjeli , Mayesha and Vivian. Firstly we went on a trip and we went on a boat trip along the River Thames. We took loads of pictures to show the two artists that came in to help us with our ideas. We researched about the buildings that surround the River Thames. We then went to watch a 4-D Movie based around London city itself. It was absolutely amazing and we went on the London Eye. Going on the London eye we could see the River Thames from above and we thought it looked really beautiful. The Weather Was Cold and soon it started to snow a little which made The View Above even more beautiful. After we went on a cruise, we were given more information about the buildings along and around the Thames as we went under the bridges on the Thames. We took many pictures and the experience of the Visit was phenomenal.
